Community Experiences with MRWG

"Our #cityofvv Community Clean-up Day in October was a great success, and we want to thank our generous sponsors! With their help, we were able to provide supplies to our many volunteers who work so hard to Keep Victorville Clean. Thank you T-Mobile, Sunland Ford, CEMEX, Les Schwab Tire Centers, Alaska USA FCU, Mojave Watershed, Green de Bortnowsky, Greater High Desert Chamber of Commerce, Christian Covenant Church, Bye Bye Mattress, High Desert Association of Realtors, West Coast Arborists, Inc., and American Organics."

"The City of Victorville Environmental Programs Division has enjoyed partnering with the Mojave River Watershed Group over the years. They have worked with us on Victorville Community Cleanup Day events and other special clean ups. We make a point of including MRWG literature at our booth whenever we do public events and appreciate that they have actively promoted the City’s HHW Collection Center and other environmental programs. This is a great partnership!"

-Dana Armstrong, City of Victorville Environmental Programs Manager

"Victor Valley Animal Protection League Humane Society’s Ambassador Dog Millie has been honored to work with MRWG since 2013. Teaching students one simple way pet owners can help keep our water supply clean is easy and simple…Pick up the poop and dispose of it in the trash. Millie loves the students’ enthusiasm to help the environment and gives them TWO PAWS UP!"

-Terry L. Saenz, Victor Valley Animal Protection League Board Member

“The Mojave River Watershed Group did a wonderful job giving the Garden Guide presentation to our students and parents on Earth Day. The children that participated recently came in very excited showing us pictures of their seeds sprouting. The parents that attended the Garden Guide presentation acknowledged that they didn’t previously know that washing your car in the driveway could cause stormwater pollution, but will now implement stormwater best practices in their home.”

– Lilia Rodriguez, Child Care Resource Center

"Mojave River Watershed Group did a phenomenal job with their interactive, engaging and educational presentation for our Sultana High School Students and Krystal Elementary School Students at the Youth Environmental Leadership Consortium. As a result of this positive experience we were able to have the organization conduct an assembly for our career and college readiness classes at Sultana High School. Thank you MRWG for creating a positive and valuable learning environment for our youth!"

- Gwen Gollmyer-Mather, Sultana High School Math Teacher

"The Mojave River Watershed Group presentation was fantastic! My kiddos loved the pencils and bookmarks."

-Monica Cooper, Gus Franklin Jr. Elementary First Grade Teacher

"The Mojave River Watershed Group has done an outstanding job in assisting the City of Hesperia in its clean-up efforts over the past few years. By working together, we’re able to make a positive impact not only on our local ecosystems and desert environment but in the communities in which we all live, work and play."

-Dan Sousa, City of Hesperia Environmental Programs Coordinator

“Partnering together with MRWG to educate our community about stormwater pollution prevention has been a rewarding experience. The team is awesome and accommodating and the “swag bags” are a great way to get the word out to our clients and tenants about protecting our water source. We are proud to partner with this organization."

- Gail Piper, Coldwell Banker Home Source Brokerage Services Coordinator

"Our school has had wonderful experiences with the Mojave River Watershed Group! From knowledgeable staff to engaging assemblies to fun community clean-ups, MRWG is a great resource for schools to incorporate environmental education into their program!"

- Laurien Spiller, Former Principal of Mountain View Montessori Charter School

"Last semester my Environmental Science Lab class did a water quality analysis lab with a group from MRWG. The class and I were very impressed with the professionals that came out to speak to us about water pollution and the various policies involved. The members also spent a great deal of time sharing their education backgrounds. We were also given the opportunity to work with the professionals using their water sampling equipment. It has been a pleasure working with MRWG and I know this partnership will continue for many more years."

- Lyn M. Shirley, AGNR Instructor

"Thank you Christie and Chris and Terri and Millie for coming out to Oak Hills High School to present to my Advanced Placement Environmental Science classes. They really enjoyed everything and I really appreciate you taking the time to come out and present."

-Greg Saenz, Oak Hills High School Science teacher
